Kitchen Love

I love a bright white kitchen...especially one teamed with deep toned hard wood floors. This kitchen, which I saw on Decor Pad is beautiful in both it's style and simplicity. Completely perfect!

Earning Your Stripes

It has been a long winter of heavy coats, shearling boots and thick scarfs. After several months of this I am in the mood for lighter, wrappy scarves. Some of my favorites are striped scarves and those with lots of tiny fringe. These two recent finds have both! Love this soft cashmere navy scarf from Nordstrom's! Find out details about it here.

Great cozy scarf in rust and black! Perfect neutral color combination. I found it originally on Pinterest. It's from Le Tote. You can take a look here!

Melting

Just the tiniest bit of snow remains. I love the slightly warmer days and chilly nights. Yesterday, I put out a grouping of some pretty white pillar candles. They freshen up the living room and smell amazing. I love this outdoor photo shown below. I found it here on the website The Style Files....take a peek...this site is wonderful! xo

Fresh Project

The weather is starting to become just a bit more mild and I'm looking for both a new knitting project and a new book. I came across The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon at Barnes and Noble the other afternoon. It looks really good...it's officially next on my list!

I love this yarn I was peeking at on Etsy. From the Colorado based shop, Yospun. It's a great thick/thin yarn...about 80 yards in total. A perfect blend of merino and mohair. I love the wonderful variations throughout! Happy Knitting! xo

Copper Glow

If I were to put together a kitchen wish list...right at the top would be these copper pots. I love the warm tones of copper, the hammered texture, the contrasting handles. These in particular are just so amazing. Found on Paris Hotel Boutique...you can peek around on this fabulous site for hours. Such beautiful treasures....you have the check out their vintage offerings!

Hello, Sunshine!

It's finally sunny out! I'm reorganizing some rooms, opening the windows a crack (it's still cold!) and just freshening up. I'm ready for spring to arrive...

LOVE this cheerful kitchen! (Found on onekingslane.com)

Quiet Week

I am so glad to have a relatively simple week ahead. No hectic evenings planned...just a short, much needed break from meetings and sports practices. Today feels like a good day for the yarn shop...and a good cooking day, too. Loving the quiet....

Simply beautiful knitting by Gris Handknits...I went to peek at this Etsy shop but they are currently on break to catch up with orders. Need to check back soon....

Love this....xo

Sweet Sunday

I think I may be more of a person who loves to cook rather than one who loves to bake. I can spend an hour preparing risotto and find it amazingly relaxing but not so much with baking....I think because baking is often so precise...you cannot really tweek the recipe the way you can with cooking. But all that said, I came across this yummy recipe for chocolate crusted banana blondies and I'm going to give it try. Originally from the New York Times, I found it on this great blog. Take a peek....it has all the makings for a perfect Sunday treat.

Embracing Quiet

I am working on being more centered...making the most of my time...living as healthy as I can. I have never been one to thrive on a overly hectic schedule. I  need quiet time to balance my day. Not necessarily time spent alone just time spent calmly and well. Hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend...xo

I wish I had a proper photo credit for this...love!

Though the air remains cold, spring is edging closer!

Warming Trend

We had our second blizzard of the season here yesterday. The snow has finally stopped but the nearly subzero temps continue. It's March....there just has to be warmer days ahead! I found this great free pattern for fingerless gloves. Perfect for days that still hold just a bit of a chill. These gloves are knit with Cascade lana d'Oro yarn....a great blend of wool and mohair. Take a peek here for info on the pattern and great artist who created them! Happy Knitting! xo

Face It

How fun are these kids clothing hangers?! They come in lots of whimsical colors and each are made out of birch ply and laser cut. They are hand sanded and painted. They are such a sweet idea! I saw them initially on Pinterest and then found the shop on the British craft site Folksy. The shop is named Red Hand Gang...you can take a peek right here.

In The Bag

When I knit I tend to lean toward what I know best....scarves and wraps. They are relaxing to make and I love experimenting with new yarns and textures. I am amazed when I see the knit work of others and the creativity that many artists have. This Etsy shop located in Istanbul offers beautiful handbags. I love the fiber choices and designs...take a peek at the truly stunning work NzLbags offers! Happy Monday! xo

Fascinated

I love looking at hand spun yarn. Knitting possibilities seem so endless and magical when you look at the work of these artists. There is so much time and thought put into color and texture...it amazes me. I came across this yarn recently on Etsy. This skein...called "Moss Garden"...is 100 yards. Aren't the gold, cream, brown and green tones just so pretty? I love the variation throughout. The yardage would be perfect for a chunky cowl. Happy Knitting! xo

Monday Morning

If you are in the mood to change things up a bit & ditch your winter coat...a cozy poncho or wrap is a perfect warm alternative. I saw a great shop on Etsy that offers hand knit ponchos that are stunning! Take a peek at them here. Knit in Poland, the amazing artist uses a blend of mohair, wool and acrylic. The results are beautiful! Happy Monday! xo

And The Oscar Went To

I am all about the Academy Awards today. It's one of my favorite nights of the year. I grab good food, wine, knitting and look forward to an uninterrupted four hours.

Most of all, I love all the movie history and nods to films of the past. I came across some amazing vintage photos of the award ceremonies on this wonderful site and these are my favorite....

Buddy Adler's award for "From Here to Eternity" left trustingly in the coat rack.

Vintage Vibe

I'm spending a lot of time sorting through items in my bedroom...deciding what will stay and what I should box up. I love a warm, vintage look but want the room to feel fresh. I'm also narrowing down paint colors. I always use Benjamin Moore paint that I purchase at Sherwin Williams. I love this color called Gray Tint....

Love this color which I found on Pinterest. Photo: http://dalyessentials.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

I completely love mercury glass so I just bought this bedside lamp at Home Goods. Paired it with this matte black vintage phone from Pottery Barn. Warm wood adds a perfect tone with the antiqued silver look....

Mercury glass votives, antique inspired chairs and mantle style shelf all from Pottery Barn.

Bench I just purchased. Perfect size for stacking books....
